Philosophical analysis of the exhibition

David Brunel
Born in 1968, lives in Arles and works in the south-east of France, writer, photographer, PhD in aesthetic philosophy and psychoanalytical studies, associate researcher at the Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires en Sciences Humaines et Sociales de Montpellier (CRISES), qualified Maître de conférences (18ème sect°), Lecturer in aesthetic philosophy, art history, history of photography, cinema and critical analysis at Paul Valéry Montpellier III University (Licence Cinéma and Master Philosophie Esthétique), Aix Marseille University (Visual Arts) and ENSI (Avignon). He is a regular speaker at various art schools, foundations and cultural institutions. Regular lecturer at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh – Arles.
Prior to his university studies, he trained in photography at Serge Gal’s school, Image Ouverte (which he later joined as a teacher and pedagogical manager). Whether his research concerns are critical, poetic or photographic (conferences, publications, exhibitions), they remain driven by the vast question of representation (as much on the creator’s side as on the viewer’s).
