To open this memorable evening, discover the duo Ballaké Sissoko & Piers Faccini. Two decades of musical friendship and here they are today, at the crossroads of African blues and Southern-flavored British folk. Composed by four hands, their sublime ballads drink from Mandingo sources, soar like migratory birds or seeds blown by the wind over the Mediterranean, and soar as high as their unison creativity carries them. Their ferrymen’s souls bring us stories of travel, swarming, migration and universal love… With Our Calling, the griot-troubadour duo make a solemn appeal that not only resonates with perfect harmony, but can also be heard, beyond the acoustic alchemy, as an invitation to harmonious living together.
The evening continues with Salif Keïta! Rejected for his albinism (considered a bad omen in Africa), he had to run away as a child with his guitar on his back. In the space of half a century, he has become the “Golden Voice” of Mali, and the herald of flamboyant, deeply Mandingo Afro-pop. The modern interpretations of the beautiful black voice of the man with white skin, respected by the artistic world, have led him to the international career he is known for. Although he recently announced his withdrawal from all activities except those linked to his “Pour les Albinos” foundation, the artist-activist is now back on stage with an intimate acoustic quartet. Singing of difference and tolerance, he once again reveals the extraordinary artist he intrinsically is. With Mamadou Koné (calabash), Kante Djessou Mory (guitar) & TBC (n’goni).
