Les Rendez-vous des Jardins takes place once a month on a Sunday in the Verrerie gardens in Arles (Trinquetaille district).
It’s an opportunity to discover the activities of the citizen’s third-place set up on the site, to get together and (re)connect with nature … and with each other.
Find out more about the program for Sunday, October 19 from 1:30 p.m.
THE HIDDEN LIFE OF SOILS – 2pm-4pm
A fun workshop to discover the richness of the soil through a 7-family game. A simple and fun way to get to know the living world that lies beneath our feet!
With Marine Buu, manager of the Verrerie nature center
(30 minutes per game, several games possible, children accompanied)
ANIMAL EXPRESSION IN MARTIAL ARTS – 2pm-4pm
Discover an aspect of Chinese martial arts based on animal expression!
A concept both profound and playful, we’ll explore how to embody the spirit of each animal and express their characteristics in technical execution.
With David Lombardo, from the Kung Fu Wushu Yuan Shen school

IMPRESSIFLORA AUDIOPHILA (interactive installation) – 2pm-4pm
Interactive installation in the gardens of La Verrerie, between plants and digital technology. Impressiflora Audiophila is an artificial plant with printed growth. Nourished by light and awakened by sound, it transforms photons into long-posed images, slowly printed onto a paper ribbon.
Let’s take a look at this installation that combines sober technology and nature! With Sébastien Thon, teacher-researcher at the University of Aix-Marseille
(installation presented as part of the Festival Octobre Numérique)
ECHOLOGIC (interactive installation) – 2pm-4pm
Aware of the limits crossed by computer globalization and a certain idea of technical progress, an AI returns to earth. Installed in the gardens of La Verrerie, this interactive perma-computing work, imagined as an AI returning to the earth, dialogued with a nearby permaculture vegetable garden to question the links between technologies and ecologies.
With Sébastien Thon, teacher-researcher at the University of Aix-Marseille
(installation presented as part of the Festival Octobre Numérique)
RESTITUTION JARDIN LIBRE (interactive installation) – 2pm-4pm
This installation showcases the weather station designed and developed by a working group during the “Jardin Libre” digital workshops. Self-sufficient thanks to solar energy and equipped with humidity, temperature and pressure sensors, it enables collective documentation of garden life via an embedded wiki and QR codes.
With Olivier Carpels, head of La Verrerie’s digital center
(installation presented as part of the Festival Octobre Numérique)
