The program for Rencontres de la Photographie 2026 was presented in Arles by Christoph Wiesner and Aurélie de Lanlay, under the theme “Des mondes à relire”. This year’s edition, which will run until early October, will place particular emphasis on the transmission and reading of images, with a special highlight at the end of the summer: “Le septembre des Rencontres”.
Starting on July 6, the festival will offer a journey between the Mediterranean and the African continent, with a focus on Ghana, the homeland of Carlos Idun-Tawiah, who designed the poster. Other African scenes, from Côte d’Ivoire to South Africa, will also be highlighted.
The living world will be at the heart of a number of exhibitions, from views of the animal world (Clergue, Parr, Lartigue, Salgado) to plant explorations, notably at the Jardin d’été with Flower Power. For the first time, the hospital park will also host an open-air exhibition.
Among the highlights, the Night of the Year will be held on July 11 at Papeteries Étienne. Finally, the festival will welcome unexpected guests such as director Park Chan-wook and Charlotte Gainsbourg, whose photographs will be exhibited.
