What happens when the crowd disperses and emotions shift? What does collective excitement produce—and what does its dissipation produce? At the heart of the piece, a song by the Lebanese collective Sanam—with lyrics drawn from a poem by the Lebanese writer Paul Chaoul—evokes loss, finitude, and decline. The five performers navigate all these states to build, in unison, a shared image as an act of resistance and hope for the world to come.
