Built at the beginning of the XVIIIᵉ century in the context of the Catholic Counter-Reformation, it features monumental architecture combining classical rigor and Baroque exaltation, enriched by exceptional decoration and liturgical furnishings. Based on a historical study drawing on a wealth of previously unpublished archival sources, this talk traces the chapel’s singular destiny: from its conventual origins to its transformation into a chapel of Charity during the Revolution, and then to its cultural reconversion in the XXᵉ century, revealing all the rich heritage, spiritual and urban significance of this emblematic site.
