Collections Collection: The first exhibition of the Musée de la Mode et du Costume Fragonard
In this new museum in Arles, the Costa family collection, on display since 1997 at the Musée Provençal du Costume et du Bijou in Grasse, and that of the Pascal family are brought together, offering a unique vision of clothing fashions since the mid-18th century.
True to their passion for Provence’s heritage and history, Anne, Agnès and Françoise Costa have chosen to preserve a priceless part of Arles’ heritage in 2019: the fashion and costume collection of historians Odile and Magali Pascal.
For its first exhibition, Collections-Collection, the museum brings together two collections located at opposite ends of Provence. This fusion lends exceptional richness to the celebration of French Mediterranean costume and textile history. Through a chronological itinerary, this exhibition offers the public an overview of fashion in Provence since the 18th century. Emblematic costumes, or major pieces from the Costa and Pascal collections, finally take their place in the showcases of this long-awaited new museum.
