By presenting artists from the new generation of flamenco, FlamencA develops contemporary aesthetic trends while respecting “pure” flamenco. A young, dynamic option presenting the most traditional flamenco.
Cross-disciplinary artistic proposals: dance, music, singing, photography, poetry, painting, installations. Without being a gender festival, women, who make up around 70% of the program, take center stage.
In a music scene where virilist and macho values are openly sung, they have the courage to talk about their daily lives, their thirst for equality and emancipation. For eleven days, flamenco artists, musicians, dancers, singers and poets will take over various prestigious venues in Arles: the Théâtre Antique, the courtyard of the archbishop’s palace, the quays of the Rhône, foundations and art galleries.
Arles, a historic city from time immemorial. Crossroads of peoples and cultures. World capital of photography. Arles is one of the cities with the most cultural offerings per capita in the world. In just four editions, FlamencA has become the revelation of flamenco festivals in France, and has earned us an international reputation in the world of this musical style.
