Exhibition of Arles Ceramists — Terres d’Arles Association
A land, a region, a commitment. The clay is sourced from Mas Baudran, the oldest farmhouse in the Camargue. The soil there has been depleted by intensive farming.
To revitalize them, a pond is being dug to recreate a wetland habitat. The project aims to have the site designated as an ORE (Obligation Réelle Environnementale, or Real Environmental Obligation).
From this excavation emerges a raw material. Eleven ceramic artists have chosen to explore it.
It all begins with clay that is put to the test: shaping, firing, glazing, experimentation…
Eleven ceramic artists have taken it on and are sharing with you tableware, decorative pieces, and even sculptural works.
These various expressions share the common theme of “endangered natural heritage”—a direct echo of the original source of this clay, this land worth defending.
