The museum’s photographic collections will be showcased in a temporary exhibition presented as part of the 2027 Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles. A special section will be dedicated to family photographs from Camargue residents, collected following a call for submissions launched in 2026.
Through the eyes of photographers past and present, this exhibition will reveal a Camargue that is both public and intimate, ranging from the infinitely large to the immensely small. By bringing together the photographic collections of the Musée de la Camargue with works from private collections and other museums, the exhibition will explore the images that have shaped the collective imagination of the Camargue. Navigating the space between clichés and reality, traditions and change, the exhibition will present a multifaceted Camargue, far removed from static representations, inviting visitors to take a fresh look at this unique and vibrant region.
Exhibition presented as part of the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, from July to October 2027.
