Matt Frenot studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Nancy and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles. He took part in the Creation&Mondialization research program at the Offshore school in Shanghai, directed by Paul Devautour.
His work spans the visual arts through photography, video, sound, writing and drawing. His approach is defined by a fragmentary representation of the places he explores in relation to color.
His pictorial writing is nourished by the experience of multiple places, domestic, natural, urban; a vision made of sensations to compose dreamlike universes.
His work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, cinemas, shops and chapels. He regularly collaborates with galleries, architects, collectors and independent curators on the scenography and layout of works in exhibition spaces and collection venues.
