The Rhône is a river of a thousand faces. Stretching 800 km, it shapes the landscape and interacts with human activities and natural ecosystems. The Lower Rhône Network, led by the CPIE Rhône-Pays d’Arles, invites you to celebrate the shared (re)discovery of the river during this 10th anniversary edition of “Dans les bras du Rhône.” The overarching theme, “The Rhône in Common,” will highlight what is being built collectively along the Rhône: the connections between people, living beings, and their river.
This event is co-organized with stakeholders from the Lower Rhône region to promote, share, and raise awareness of the river’s culture and the issues surrounding it. It is an invitation to discover the Rhône in a new light by participating in guided walks, performances, lectures, workshops, concerts, or gatherings, while exchanging perspectives with those who live, reside, travel through, study, cultivate, and tell the stories of the river.
On foot, by bike, or by kayak, “In the Arms of the Rhône” brings together residents, curious visitors, enthusiasts, and partners around a shared goal: to make the river a shared, vibrant space whose story is told collectively. From island to island, from town to town, let’s weave a shared culture of the river together.
This event is organized by the CPIE Rhône – Pays d’Arles and financially supported by the Rhône-Saône Plan (the French government, the Rhône-Méditerranée-Corse Water Agency, the DREAL of the AURA Region, the SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, the Occitanie Region, the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, and Électricité de France), the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse, the Greater Avignon Urban Community, the city of Arles, the city of Avignon, and the Fête de la Science. The event has been awarded the “Living with Rivers” certification.
