Gardens can be home to a wide variety of birds, provided they offer habitats suited to the birds’ needs.
The Pont de Gau Bird Park offers a morning workshop to teach participants how to observe, identify, and better understand these familiar yet often misunderstood species. Accompanied by a passionate ornithologist guide, participants discover the birds’ distinctive features, songs, and behaviors, while learning how to encourage their presence in gardens.
The workshop alternates between classroom theory sessions, field observations, and hands-on workshops. It helps participants develop their observation skills, identify species by their songs and behaviors, understand their needs, and discover landscaping techniques that encourage their presence.
Observations are conducted with respect for the birds and their peace and quiet, in order to prioritize an ethical and responsible approach.
This course is designed for adults and children who wish to learn more about garden birds and discover how to help protect them.
No prior experience is required. The workshop is open to everyone and includes short walks along well-maintained trails that do not present any significant physical challenges.
