At the Parc ornithologique du Pont de Gau, hundreds of flamingos live in preserved natural habitats throughout the year. The exceptional viewing conditions offer a rare opportunity to observe these birds at close range and gain a better understanding of their way of life.
This training day invites you to discover the Greater Flamingo’s annual life cycle, behaviour, remarkable adaptations and role in the Camargue ecosystems.
Accompanied by a passionate ornithologist guide, you will take part in field observations and bird counts, and learn how to read identification rings as part of the scientific monitoring programme coordinated by the Tour du Valat research institute.
Combining classroom-based theory with practical activities along the park’s trails, this training course offers a hands-on and rewarding learning experience.
It is aimed at individuals, beginners and amateur naturalists wishing to deepen their knowledge of flamingos. No previous knowledge is required.
The day includes walks along surfaced paths, with no major physical difficulty.
