In the spring, the heron colonies come alive. The adults are constantly coming and going to feed their chicks, while the young birds can be heard calling from their nests. At the Pont de Gau Ornithological Park, the diversity of habitats offers ideal conditions for observing these birds and gaining a better understanding of their way of life.
Spend a day, accompanied by a passionate ornithologist guide, immersing yourself in the world of herons and honing your observation and identification skills.
The course alternates between field observations and classroom instruction. In particular, it teaches participants how to distinguish the different species of herons found in the Camargue, discover the natural habitats suited to their needs, and become familiar with various types of optical equipment.
Observations are conducted with respect for the birds and their peace and quiet, in order to prioritize an ethical and responsible approach.
This course is designed for individuals—whether beginners or amateur naturalists—who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in ornithology.
No prerequisites are required. The course is open to everyone and includes walking segments on well-maintained trails that do not present any significant physical challenges.
