Synopsis:
Shuffled from one family to another, young François is a serial troublemaker—a true champion of mischief. His difficult situation leads him to find refuge with “Pépère” and “Mémère” (Grandpa and Grandma), where he is placed as a ward of the state. A heart-wrenching film about childhood, this debut feature by Maurice Pialat serves as a manifesto for his uncompromising style of cinema, which demands a “stripping bare” of reality.
