To celebrate Arelate’s 20th anniversary, the museum’s recently renovated rooftop terrace will open its doors for a special evening of conversation under the stars. In this unique setting, Jean-Pierre Luminet—astrophysicist, research director at the CNRS, and author—and Alain Charron, chief curator and deputy director of the museum, invite the public to explore major celestial themes.
Through an account of the famous transits of Venus across the Sun—from their first prediction in the 16th century to major modern observation campaigns—this event highlights the scientific and historical significance of these exceptional astronomical phenomena. Combining scientific discoveries, human adventures, and interactions with the public, this evening offers a unique opportunity to experience popular science in an exceptional setting at the very top of the museum.
