This photographic series is part of a body of work I have been developing for over twenty years, exploring the construction of the image at the very moment it is captured.
My approach begins with Light Graff, a long-exposure photography technique that involves writing or drawing with light sources in public spaces. It then evolves into Light Painting, where light becomes a true creative tool for constructing the image directly during the exposure, whether in the studio or in an urban setting, using light drawings, projections, and rear projections. All these images are created in a single photographic capture, without editing or retouching.
This research led to the publication of the books Light Graff (2007) and Freehand’z Lightpainting (2012), as well as numerous specialized publications, notably a series of six features dedicated to light photography in Blazing magazine.
Since 2018, this exploration has continued through the Distorsions series and current research on the dynamics of the image. After using light as a tool for composition and visual construction, movement has now become the subject of creation. Captured in a single shot, these photographs explore the possibilities of transforming reality by moving the camera during the capture. Forms fragment, perspectives multiply, and space seems to oscillate between reality and simulation.
Nourished by travel, movement, and the observation of the urban and architectural environment, this approach questions our perception of the world in the digital age. Without resorting to digital manipulation, these images nevertheless produce visions that seem to come from virtual worlds.
Between the real and the virtual, matter and information, stability and movement, this work invites us to look beyond appearances and reminds us that reality is never fully revealed. The image thus becomes a space for exploration where perception, memory, movement, and imagination converge.
