Born out of a desire to create a dialogue between the great works of our television heritage and contemporary social issues, the festival continues the project it launched in 2025: to discover and rediscover gems of French audiovisual history, more contemporary works and previews, and to connect them with the world of today over the course of an exceptional weekend.
This year, the festival will place justice at the heart of its programme, a theme that is more relevant than ever, amidst mistrust of institutions, media coverage of trials and debates on fairness and discrimination. Justice can be viewed both through the prism of the courts and their figures (judges, lawyers, investigators) and as a more personal examination of our values, our relationship with the law and how we respond to injustice. It is this dual dimension—institutional and moral—that this year’s programme will explore through works as diverse as they are powerful.
Ultimately, Lumière des Alpilles aims to establish itself as a leading event for French audiovisual culture in the region, organised in collaboration with the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA), the festival’s main partner and a key player in the preservation and promotion of audiovisual heritage.
Screenings, discussions and opportunities for sharing:
Indoor and open-air screenings, special evenings, discussions and debates: every day of the festival will be an invitation to see and look at things differently. Opportunities for discussion with guest speakers will enrich the programme, bringing together figures from the audiovisual world to share insights into the creative process and help these works resonate with our times.
A programme open to all:
Designed as an accessible and inclusive festival, Lumière des Alpilles is aimed at a broad and diverse audience, with an educational programme dedicated to the general public, schoolchildren and families. Workshops will complement the screenings, offering a participatory, sensitive and immersive experience.
A festival rooted in its local area:
Fontvieille, Paradou, Maussane-les-Alpilles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Les Baux-de-Provence… Screenings will take place in village cinemas, al fresco and at iconic heritage sites in the Alpilles, offering a programme that is as rich as it is unexpected.
Evening events will feature dining and social areas, encouraging interaction between the public, guests and the festival team.
