A Poetry “Réveiller-la-Nuit” in Arles!
Laurence Vielle joins forces with the “Voix Fauves” vocal improvisation group to give rhythm to her own raw, lively and expansive narration, which is as profound as it is intimate. A sound poet with a particularly free word, the encounter between language “in the wild” and imaginary sung languages is an integral part of the poetizing of an exceptional moment of creation, inventiveness and artistic originality.
Laurence Vielle:
“And I turn with the earth like a marble in the sun”.
She sees the stage and writing as intimately linked. And when she walks, it speaks and writes inside her. She has to walk, several hours a day. She strolls Brussels with joy.
In 2016, she was appointed National Poet of Belgium, a fantastic experience of writing about the world, her country and all its linguistic borders.
She writes for radio and theater, responds to commissions, leads writing workshops, participates in various collectives, and invites other artists to contribute to her collections.
In the summer of her sixth birthday, she cried out a succession of words to the river, to suspended time, which have never ceased since.
les Voix Fauves :
Les Voix Fauves is a vocal improvisation laboratory that accompanies singers from all horizons, as well as artists from all fields, on stage. Led by Jean-Yves Penafiel, actor, singer, stage director and voice teacher, the group sings and transmits its original vocal creations and inventions.
The adventure with Laurence Vielle began at the 4th edition of the Nuit de la Poésie in Arles, in 2025.
Invited separately to perform on the stage of the Clos Saint Césaire garden, an artistic and personal friendship and aesthetic resonance created a strong bond between the poet and the vocal group, who decided to work together on a common project. Laurence asked to be accompanied by those with whom she had rediscovered her love of sounds and imaginary languages.
