Refuge is a curatorial experiment conceived in the mode of an exquisite corpse.
The starting point was Nid, a work by Cirrus, whose reproduction was sent to one of the fourteen invited artists.
The artist then had three days in which to propose a selection of works; those selected were then submitted to the next artist – and so on.
The deliberately short deadline gave rise to a form of automatic exhibition: a curatorial process freed from individual conceptual frameworks and customary hierarchies, leaving room for collective, intuitive construction.
Refuge is supported by FEARLESSS, an artistic and curatorial platform, and ELA, École Libre d’Architecture.
