Born in Italy in 1987, Chiara Indelicato lives and works between Stromboli and France. After an initial career in fashion and branding, she has devoted herself entirely to photography since 2019. She works in argentic and develops and prints her images herself using an experimental and ecological process, using a mixture of seawater and coffee. This process creates images with organic textures, imbued with the very matter of the places she explores.
Pelle di lava brings together a selection of photographs taken at Stromboli, revealing a subtle dialogue between matter, memory and landscape. This slow, artisanal work questions the fragility of territories, the invisible presence of buried narratives, and the way in which nature leaves its mark on our lives.
The exhibition will also include objects collected on the island, such as pieces of lava, integrated into the installation to introduce a tactile and sensory dimension, and deepen the relationship between the work, the territory and the body.
A committed artist, Chiara Indelicato campaigns for the legal recognition of the Stromboli volcano and the preservation of its ecosystem. Her artistic approach is nourished by her deep ties with the environment, landscape and memory.
Chiara published Pelle di Lava with Palais Books in 2024 on Favini’s Alga Carta paper, created from algae that threatened the ecosystem of the Venice lagoon. A second edition was published in 2025. A sensitive work where poetry dominates this volcanic environment!
