The Petit Rhône serves as a guide to this itinerary; for many years a border river, it now separates the Bouches-du-Rhône from the Gard, the southern region of Occitanie. It flows through the heart of the Camargue region, with its large manades that dress the meadows in black patches. The black of the bulls and the gardians’ jackets, the white of the horses and gardians’ huts, the sand of the Saintes-Maries beaches, the green of the crops, the red of the arenas… an explosion of bright colors, typical of the gypsy culture! Falco de Baroncelli is responsible for its recognition, as well as that of the Camargue culture.
