Ecotourism and sustainable tourism in the Camargue: what else?

The open natural spaces, a rich fauna and a diverse flora of the Camargue instills a lot of respect. It’s a destination where nature and culture offer rich and varied experiences to its visitors: historical, cultural and spiritual discoveries and food adventures.

Yet, with nearly 6 million visitors each year, the area’s fragile environment is endangered by negligence or ignorance. Here are some keys to make sure that your visit is in tune with this fragile territory. You will enjoy it even more. Not only will you reduce your impact on the environment, eco-responsible activities will open up a whole world of discovery and authenticity.

Ode to the slow

On foot, by bike, on horseback or on the water, the Camargue reveals itself to be surprising, ever changing and enchanting for those who know to take it slow. Choose soft mobility: you will have the leisure to observe nature and be amazed by it. Take your time!

Within the limits of the Camargue National Reserve, visits are regulated. The National Society for Nature Protection that manages these areas, proposes welcome sites and guided hiking tours.

Valeurs Parc : choose people with a commitment to nature and sustainable development

Logo marque Valeur parc naturel régional

It’s a sign you will surely come across during your holidays. The “Valeurs parc” label is carried out by the Regional Natural Park. It’s a network of accommodation and restaurant owners, farmers, breeders and manades, boutiques and craftsmen living and promoting sustainable development.

Together, they commit to:

  • The respect of nature and natural and cultural heritage
  • The promotion of well-being of co-workers, inhabitants and visitors
  • The discovery of the Park area via their products and services

The Park supports companies engaged in this process and contributes to their promotion. Meet them!
