Presented at the Shadows Gallery in Arles as part of the Off program of the Rencontres de la Photographie, it brings together three series: Virgin Suicide, Maniac, and Mati\u00e8re Noire.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition explores psychological defense mechanisms: what closes off, veils, or covers up when the subject is still standing but no longer responds. Not madness, but a response\u2014a way of coping and protecting oneself.<\/p>\n<p>A photographer of the rock scene for twenty years, \u00c9ric Canto has also been designing album covers for the band Mass Hysteria for fifteen years. Two of these series, *Maniac* (2019) and *Mati\u00e8re Noire* (2015), are being presented for the first time as fine art prints.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition runs from August 4 to September 20 at Galerie Shadows, 16 bis rue du Grand Prieur\u00e9 in Arles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANIAC brings together three series by \u00c9ric Canto exploring psychological defense mechanisms.
