When the need for light and gentleness becomes urgent, when the burning desire to escape the world\u2019s heaviness\u2014the cries and tears that cannot be soothed from where I stand\u2014leaves me with a deep sense of sadness, then I look at the blank canvas. A sky appears there, then others, more or less realistic, where color predominates. The world doesn\u2019t change because of it, but perhaps our gaze and our hearts do, just a little.
\nI am familiar with Jean-Pierre Proph\u00e8te\u2019s work and know that his landscapes feature magnificent skies, so I challenged him to paint only skies and nothing beneath them\u2014no boat, no house, no bull. My painting is diverse, as I paint according to the inspiration or mood of the moment.
\nAfter depicting landscapes of Provence and the Camargue, as well as bullfighting scenes, I currently tend to move away from a classical style to explore other subjects with a more modern and personal expression.

\nAn imposed theme that is far from straightforward and the obligation to have a sufficient number of canvases to exhibit by a given date\u2026 In other words, a double whammy for the fiercely independent artist that I am.
\nBut, on the other hand, the sky is the image of purity, serenity, freedom\u2026 it\u2019s nice.
